Transform Your Finances Through Godly Wisdom

"The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." - Proverbs 21:5*

Why Financial Stewardship is Spiritual Warfare

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21

Many people don't realize that financial management isn't just practical—it's spiritual. When we mismanage God's resources, we:

Limit our ability to fund kingdom work
Create stress that distracts from our calling
Model poor stewardship to our families
Miss opportunities to be generous when needs arise
This tool helps you win the battle for your financial soul.

What You'll Gain in 30 Minutes:
✅ Clarity instead of financial confusion
✅ Peace instead of money-related stress
✅ Direction instead of wandering aimlessly
✅ Freedom instead of debt bondage
✅ Purpose instead of random spending

The Cost of Waiting:
Every month you delay getting your finances in order, you're potentially:

Losing hundreds in unnecessary interest payments
Missing investment opportunities for your family's future
Reducing your capacity to fund God's work
Modeling poor stewardship to your children

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Click any step to jump the narration there, or press Start Tour to hear everything in order.

  1. Step 1 – Start with Your Income

Begin by entering your Gross Monthly Income and, if you know it, your Net Monthly Income. Gross is what you earn before taxes and deductions; net is what actually hits your bank account.

The toggle that says “Use Gross for DTI; Use Net for budgeting visuals” means: your Debt-to-Income ratio is based on gross income, while charts and leftovers can use your take-home pay to feel more realistic.

  2. Step 2 – Add Your Monthly Expenses

Next, go through each expense section—Housing, Transportation, Food, Family & Personal, Health & Insurance, Debt, Savings, Faith & Giving, Entertainment, Pets, Education, Miscellaneous, and any Custom Categories.

You don’t have to use every field. Just enter the bills you actually pay each month. The calculator totals everything automatically behind the scenes.

  3. Step 3 – Understand the Summary & DTI Box

In the Budget Summary section, review your Monthly Income, Total Expenses, Debt Payments, DTI Ratio, and Leftover Funds.

The colored badge on the DTI Ratio helps you see if lenders might consider your debt level Good, Fair, or Poor. Leftover Funds show how much margin you have each month after expenses.

  4. Step 4 – Explore the Expense Breakdown Chart

The Expense Breakdown chart shows where your money is going by category. Use the button to switch between Pie Chart and Bar Chart.

This visual helps you quickly spot which areas—like housing, transportation, or subscriptions—are taking up the biggest slice of your budget.

  5. Step 5 – Use the What-If Sliders

In the What-If Simulation section, move the sliders for Housing, Transportation, Food, Subscriptions, and Debt to test what would happen if you cut those categories by a certain percentage.

Press Apply Changes to see how those adjustments would affect your DTI, leftover funds, and overall budget. Use Reset Simulation to undo the test and go back to your original numbers.

  6. Step 6 – Read the Investment Suggestions

If you have positive leftover funds, the Investment Suggestions panel shows sample percentages for directing extra money toward Emergency Savings, Retirement, Cash-Value Life Insurance, Brokerage Accounts, and Debt Prepayment.

You can adjust the percentages to see how different allocations would look. This is a teaching tool, not a personal recommendation.

  7. Step 7 – Check the 50/30/20 Benchmark

The 50/30/20 Budget Benchmark compares your current spending to a common guideline: 50% Needs, 30% Wants, 20% Savings & Debt Paydown.

The meter shows your actual percentages and gives a tip if your Needs, Wants, or Savings are outside the recommended range.

  8. Step 8 – Review Recommended Adjustments

The Recommended Adjustments section highlights a few categories where trimming spending or reallocating funds could help bring your DTI down or increase savings.

Use these ideas as a starting point for conversations, not as strict rules.

  9. Step 9 – Open the Detailed Report

Click View Report to open the slide-out drawer. Inside, you’ll see tabs for: Expense Breakdown, Chart, What-If, Suggestions, and 50/30/20 Benchmark.

Each tab gives you a deeper breakdown of how your numbers fit together so you can better explain your situation or plan your next steps.

  10. Step 10 – Use Print, CSV, and Copy Tools

At the bottom, use Print / Save PDF to create a printable report, Export CSV to download a spreadsheet-friendly version, and Copy Summary to grab a quick text summary for email or notes.

The Reset All button clears every input so you can start fresh with new numbers.

  11. Step 11 – Remember the Purpose of This Tool

This calculator is a financial literacy tool designed to help you see your budget, debt, and leftover funds more clearly. It’s not meant to replace a personalized plan from a licensed professional.

Use what you learn here to ask better questions, make more informed decisions, and take the next step toward wise financial stewardship for you and your family.
